Site Judges:

Prof. Vinod Vyasulu is currently Professor and Vice Dean (Academic Affairs) at the Jindal School of Government and Public Policy. He’s held the RBI Chair in the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore. He also had a stint as Economic Adviser for Small Scale Industries in the National Small Industries Corporation, Delhi. He was Director of the Centre for Budget and Policy Studies in Bangalore.

Bharath M. Palavalli researches and designs tools such as games and simulations to help make better public policy. For nurturing this innovative idea of designing tools and methods to allow different stakeholders to collaborate on creating relevant and usable policy, Bharath was elected to the prestigious Ashoka Fellowship in 2018. His current work focuses on policy design and planning in the context of developing countries.

Dr. Anjali Karol Mohan, Fellow, Centre for Smart City Governance, is an urban and regional planner by profession with a PhD in urban e-governance from International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore

Shilpa Kharwal, Research Consultant, World Resources Institute, is currently co-leading an open innovation challenge called Better Bus – focused on identifying and testing innovative solutions offered by emerging start-ups in the country for improvement of the city bus systems. It aims to bring together the public bus agencies and private enterprises to co-create solutions specific to the needs of the city.

 

IMPORTANT: please remember to bring your own laptop computers to the competition. You must have GOOGLE CHROME installed. This is the only browser compatible with the simulation. Tablets are NOT compatible with the simulation. Make sure to enable your ‘Cookies.’ 

Informal Welcome Meet & Greet:

Join fellow participants and members of the Institute of Public Policy and Fields of View for an informal meet-and-greet on the evening of Friday, February 28. This event will take place in the campus of the University where the competition will take place the following day.

Hotel Details:

University has reserved rooms with following rates in the campus itself. The reservations will be for check-in on Friday, February 28, 2020 and check-out on February 29, 2020. These rooms are available on a first-come-first serve basis. Request for reservation should be sent to Shashikala@nls.ac.in before 31st January to avail rooms in the University.

Ground Transportation:

Bangalore International Airport is 45 kms from the University.  There are ample car rentals available at the airport at varying rates. Those preferring to take alternative public transport has several options, which could be found here: https://www.nls.ac.in/contact/

It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure they have made all necessary travel plans.

Initial Competition Day Details:

Participants must be at the National Law School of India University (follow signs and other posting on campus) no later than 8:00 AM for check-in on Saturday, February  29, 2020. Breakfast and coffee will be available beginning at 7:45 AM. Welcoming remarks, instructions, and the start of the competition will begin promptly at 8:30 AM. Lunch will be provided during the competition.
